The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) have frozen their annual registration fee for nurses and midwives for 2024/25.
The cost of renewing general registration for nurses and midwives will remain at $185.
This will cover the upcoming registration period commencing on 1 April 2025.
‘Keeping fees as low as possible for nurses and midwives, while ensuring we can meet our regulatory obligations and the expectations of the public and practitioners is an ongoing priority of the Board.
‘The Board is pleased to be in a position to freeze fees this year,’ Nursing and Midwifery Board chair Adjunct Professor Veronica Casey AM said.
‘We continually work toward keeping fees as low as possible while ensuring that we meet our objective of keeping the public safe.'
Registration fees fund the work of National Boards and Ahpra to keep the public safe by:
The National Scheme is self-funded with each Board responsible for meeting the full costs of regulating their profession.
The fees for each National Board must also reflect the risk and complexity of the individual professions, as well as the resources needed to address them. The National Boards work closely with Ahpra to keep fees as low as possible while continuing to meet regulatory obligations and the expectations of the public and practitioners.
