Call for applications - Registered Nurse OSCE Examiners

13 Jul 2021

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) is calling for applications for appointment to the list of examiners for the assessment of internationally qualified registered nurses.

Some internationally qualified registered nurses are required to undertake an objective structured clinical exam (OSCE) as part of the assessment of their qualifications prior to applying for registration in Australia. The OSCE is an evidence-based regulatory exam set at the registered nurse graduate level.

OSCE examiners play a vital role in the process of delivering a reliable and fair assessment process. Examiners will utilise their professional nursing knowledge in order to test candidate knowledge and skills in an exam setting.

The NMBA is seeking applications from people who have:

  • current registration as a registered nurse with the NMBA
  • Masters-level qualification or above
  • clinical nursing experience and/or clinical nursing supervision experience within Australia for a minimum of five (5) or more years, and
  • current clinical nursing practice and/or clinical nursing supervision role.

The following examiner skills are desirable, however not mandatory:

  • nursing and/or health professions education experience and/or qualification, and/or
  • nursing and/or health professions OSCE examination experience.

Registered nurses who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander are warmly invited to apply.

Exams are routinely scheduled throughout the year, subject to facility availability, and are held in Adelaide. Examiners will be required to travel and will be remunerated for their time.

Applications will be assessed by the Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Committee and appointments will be on an ongoing basis.

More information about the role, eligibility requirements and the application process can be found in the position description and application form.

Applications close at 5:00pm AEST on Sunday 15 August 2021.
