The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia has published a request for tender to review the Midwife standards for practice.
The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia is seeking suitably qualified and experienced parties to review the Midwife standards for practice incorporating a review of the existing National competency standards for the midwife.
Since the National competency standards for the midwife were developed, there have been substantial developments in both the role and scope of practice of the registered midwife across Australia. These changes, together with the model of education and training leading to registration, and the regulatory framework within which registration and enrolment of nurses and midwives occurs has progressed markedly.
The recent move to a national system of regulation and accreditation of health related courses provides the catalyst for a review of the Midwife standards for practice to make sure they reflect contemporary practice and appropriate educational preparation.
The closing date for formal responses/bids to the Request for Tender (RFT) as per details in the RFT document is 2pm AEST Friday 13 June 2014.
