The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia publishes independent Siggins Miller report

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (National Board or NMBA) has today published the Siggins Miller report on the overview of health programs for nurses and midwives with health impairment.

The National Board has released the report prepared by independent consultants Siggins Miller to promote understanding and transparency. The National Board has also published explanatory notes accompanying the report to provide context and help inform interested stakeholders about its:

• role in managing notifications about nurses and midwives with impairment, and 
• decision about future funding of the Nursing and Midwifery Health Program Victoria (NMHPV).

In summary, the core role of the National Board as a regulator is to protect the public. In the context of health programs, the National Board’s focus is on reducing risk to the public by managing notifications about nurses and midwives with impairment.

The Siggins Miller report and NMBA explanatory notes are now available on the National Board website.
